The Adrian Smith Gallery

Welcome to Adrian's gallery. In this section you will find some of his personal favourites along with paintings that have been included because of their popularity with his fans.

We have included a full gallery of Adrian's black and white art here. When most people hear 'black and white' artwork, they automatically think along the lines of it being in some way second rate, not as good or not quite as interesting as full blown colour art. I myself was guilty of this until I saw this man's monochrome work. Looking at black and white illustrations in a lot of publications you can almost see that the artist puts less effort into it, generally speaking, but this cannot be said of Adrian. The minute you lay eyes on a painting such as his 'Pelegia' painting (BWAS1007) or his 'Heroes of Chaos' (BWAS1021) you know straight away this is a man who puts his heart and soul into this work and loves every stroke of the brush. The textures, lighting and atmosphere he conveys with a medium most illustrators would find restrictive is breathtaking. I'm sure the black and white gallery is page you will return to again and again.

Adrian has worked on a multitude of projects for various companies where he has been asked to give up ideas for concepts. Unfortunately, because of the nature of the work, he is not able to show a lot of the conceptual work he has done until the projects have been completed and put into print etc. Here are a few which I know he was pleased with (he rarely admits to being pleased with any work he does) from a company he has had a lot of fun with.

As projects come to completion and books are published, he will be able to submit more to this page, he assures me.

This is by no means all of Adrian's work, it would not be possible to show all he has done during his long and prolific career.

I hope you enjoy looking at this beautiful artwork as much as I do.

Adrian, can you assist me in getting a copy of your Imago book. I went to order it and found its $22 with a $45 shipping cost attached! Yikes... Is it possible to purchase it from somewhere other than AppleComic?
