"BROZ" is to be an ongoing series of 'heroic fantasy' graphic novels. Drawn and painted by Adrian Smith and written by the acclaimed comics writer Pat mills, they are already causing a stir in the french comics market. The story is set in a low tech fantasy world, inhabited by the likes of elves, dwarves and beasts of all kind and of course plenty of new races straight from the imaginings of Adrian and Pat. Based around two characters, Broz and reluctant partner Roza, it is a tale of a partisan, continually fighting against the grip of the empire and a thief, Roza, who is just trying to get by. They are brought together by a mysterious weapon of yet untapped power, the 'Soulock'. It has all the ingredients people want and expect from Adrian and more besides. As you would expect from the likes of Adrian and Pat Mills, it has a hard edge to it but at the same time its beauty has an appeal for all. Adrian has been putting heart and soul into this project and is very proud to be working alongside Pat Mills, a writer Adrian has alway held in great esteem. It was Pat after all that brought comics to Adrians attention all those years ago with the superb ABC Warriors, Nemesis and of course Marshall Law. The plan is to release two books a year. Book one was realeased in June 2005 and book two is due for release December 2005. Adrian is already halfway through book three which will be for sale May/June 2006. The books themselves are just that, 'Books'. Beautifully bound in hard cover, full colour from start to finish. The french comics market is very big and very well respected and it shows in the quality of these books. They have been put together by people with genuine respect for the work. The publisher, 'Nickel' are also responsible for the likes of 'Requiem' by Pat Mills and Olivier Le Droit. Adrian is very much enjoying working with Nickel and is enjoying the respect from new found friends and fans in France and Europe. Adrian is planning to release a portfolio of posters and art prints through Nickel sometime in the near future, so watch this space.
